The purpose of a Class I biological safety cabinet is to ensure the safe handling of pathogenic samples (up to Category 1, 2 and 3) by protecting the operator's safety. The protection of the sample - from cross-contamination or from contamination in the laboratory space - is not the responsibility of the Class I cabinet.
Negative pressure prevails in the device, so air containing dangerous substances does not flow out towards the operator.
These safety cabinets (BSC) are produced in two versions, in terms of their ventilation system, 100% exhaust and recirculation system.
100% exhaust safety cabinets: the air coming out of the top of the cabinet is previously filtered by a HEPA filter to 99.999% purity. In addition to the spigot connected to the exhaust system, it is advisable to install another fan, which can be used to remove the air to a sufficient distance, even in the face of a significant pressure air flow.
Recirculation safety cabinets: there are three different sizes of these devices that can be placed on a table; the two smaller cabinets with the same design are made of PMMA.
The third device can also be placed on a table, but the vase is made of antibacterial painted steel. The vertically sliding, motor-operated glass window can be pulled down completely if necessary, ensuring 100% closure.
The free-standing Class I cabinet is supplied with a rollable and levelable stand. The internal width of this device is 968 mm. The frame of the equipment is made of steel treated with antibacterial paint.
The controls of the devices - depending on the dimensions - are three types of touch foil, microprocessor control units, on which ventilation and lighting, as well as safety devices can be set.
Applies to all our Class I cabinets: one-piece polished stainless steel work surface. The cabinets are equipped with a UV lamp and fluorescent lighting.
The cabinets can be disinfected by vaporizing formalin. The 19.FX-100 type device is suitable for this. After disinfection, the formalin must be neutralized with ammonium bicarbonate. The 19.TZ100 type device is used for this.
