If possible, 100% of the air must be removed from the autoclave chamber. Air trapped in the autoclave impairs the efficiency of sterilization, because the energy of air is much lower than that of steam.
A water ring vacuum pump helps to completely remove air from the autoclave (fractional pre-vacuum). Its use is particularly recommended when handling waste to be destroyed placed in bags, or hollow materials such as e.g. in the case of tubes, pipette tips.
When sterilizing filters, textiles, pipes and other porous materials, a vacuum pump is practically indispensable. When killing with a bag, the mouth of the bag must not be tied!
The number of pre-vacuum cycles can be programmed between 1 and 5 cycles, the value and duration of the vacuum to be achieved in each pre-vacuum cycle as required.
The vacuum applied at the end of sterilization (post-vacuum) can be used to dry the sterilized devices. The odor of the filling can be significantly reduced with a short post-vacuum after the sterilization.
The vacuum system must not be used for liquid programs!
